Bicycle Solutions is a San Francisco Bay Area multi-instructor private coaching business, focused on helping new and returning riders of all ages and abilities achieve their bicycling goals.

OWNER

Tim Oey is an experienced street cyclist, bicycle tourist, and instructor who loves working with clients of all ages and abilities.  He lives and teaches all around Silicon Valley (Los Altos, Palo Alto, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, Cupertino, San Jose, Los Gatos) with Bicycle Solutions and also teaches with Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition and Wheel Kids.

Tim has been bicycling daily for transportation for 50+ years including two bicycling business trips across the US as well as up and down both coasts and thru Europe. Tim earned his national certification as a League Cycling Instructor (LCI #6033) in 2018, and since then has taught classroom, off-street and on-street classes for groups and individuals, independently and through organizations, public agencies and businesses.

Prior to running Bicycle Solutions, Tim worked as a program manager and instructor for Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition, Santa Clara County Public Health Department, Bicycle Solutions, Wheel Kids, and ZeroW.org. Prior to working full time in the bike/health/environmental field, Tim was a program manager doing high tech product development for 35+ years at Harvard, Fidelity Investments, Apple, Sun, Adobe, and Silver Spring Networks.

In parallel with his professional career, Tim taught over 2000 soccer coaches as a coach instructor with American Youth Soccer Organization. Tim also served on the Sunnyvale Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission, Caltrans District 4 Bicycle Committee, Santa Clara County Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee, and Safe Routes to School groups in Sunnyvale and Cupertino.

BUSINESS HISTORY

1999 -- Bicycle Solutions created bicycle parking and storage solutions for workplaces, multi-family residential developments, and mixed-use projects.

2001 -- John Ciccarelli began offering private Learn To Ride lessons thru Bicycle Solutions.

2014 -- Bicycle Solutions began partnering with hand-picked instructors around the San Francisco Bay Area.

2023 -- John Ciccarelli spins off the bike parking businees with a new name and website: Bicycle Parking Solutions. Tim Oey takes over the Bicycle Solutions teaching business.
