Bicycle Solutions provides bicycle education opportunities in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. Through a large group of cycling instructors certified by the League of American Bicyclists, Bicycle Solutions offers private coaching and lessons, school- and organization-based classes, and bespoke special events focused on helping new and returning riders of all ages and abilities achieve their bicycling goals. We have successfully taught thousands of bicyclists how to ride and how to ride better – everything from "Learn to Ride" to "Handling Skills" to "Ride Along Coaching" to "How to Bike Anywhere.” Contact us with inquiries for your cycling needs, or use our Instructors page to book lessons in your area.

OWNER

Tim Hurley is a cyclist by avocation and profession, and formerly an architect and urban designer by education and early career practice. As an urban designer much of his practice involved the interplay between the character and quality of the built environment, land uses, and transportation. Ensuring bicyclist and pedestrian mobility was a predominant theme in his work, both domestically and internationally. 

In 2010 Tim switched professions entirely and created Wheel Kids Bicycle Club in San Francisco. Wheel Kids was dedicated to getting kids on bikes within the urban environment, using cycling as a means of introducing kids to their city, region, and selves. Under his ownership Wheel Kids expanded to locations across the Bay Area and offered multiple programs for kids from Kindergarten to middle school. Thousands of children have become more proficient cyclists and more confident human beings through participation in Wheel Kids programs. Tim sold the company to a long-time associate in 2023.

BUSINESS HISTORY

1999 -- Bicycle Solutions created to provide bicycle parking and storage solutions for workplaces, multi-family residential developments, and mixed-use projects.

2001 -- John Ciccarelli began offering private Learn To Ride lessons thru Bicycle Solutions.

2014 -- Bicycle Solutions began partnering with hand-picked instructors around the San Francisco Bay Area.

2023 -- John Ciccarelli spins off the bike parking business with a new name and website: Bicycle Parking Solutions. Tim Oey takes over the Bicycle Solutions teaching business.

2026 -- Tim Oey transfers Bicycle Solutions to Tim Hurley. Tim Oey continues as an instructor for Bicycle Solutions and now has more time to focus on ZeroW.org
