Tim is a former owner of Bicycle Solutions and also runs ZeroW.org to help people learn how to save spaceship Earth's life support system by pursuing Zero Waste - saving our environment, oceans, climate, money, and lives. Zero Waste means working to eliminate trash and pollution and doing our best to Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. All waste is money lost.
He is well known for hauling more stuff with his bike (up to 20 other bikes) than most people can fit in their car. In 2019 he did a 5,000 mile business trip by bicycle from San Francisco to Boston and along the way delivered 254 talks about Oceans, Plastic, Climate Change, and Kids.
On the infrastructure side Tim has served on the City of Sunnyvale Bicycle and Pedestrian Commission, the VTA Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee, the Stevens Creek Trail Citizens Advisory Committee, and the Caltrans District 4 Bicycle Committee. He currently serves on the Santa Clara County Roads Commission.
On the education side Tim is a certified League of American Bicyclists Cycling Instructor who loves to teach people how to bike safely. He teaches private and group lessons through Bicycle Solutions, middle school kids and parents through Wheel Kids, and everyone else through his work at Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition (SVBC). Tim has designed, organized, and led Safe Routes to School rodeos, rides, school route maps, classes, e-bike training, bike maintenance workshops, and other activities with SVBC, Cupertino, Sunnyvale, Palo Alto, Los Gatos, Menlo Park, San Jose, Stanford, and others.
